The Life and Times of Jim
Hi, there. I'm Jim. Welcome to my phlog!
This site was written for Las Vegas, then LouisVille. Now, it seems to be about anywhere. In these phlogs, you'll see a lot of my personal notes and pictures. I like to post my observations here to remember life and celebrate it. I'm not religious. I don't pray for good fortune. I'm ecstatically grateful for the gift of life and I think our time should be remembered and not taken for granted. I'm not a writer. I think pictures tell stories so much better than words. I love just about everything in this life, and, I guess that would have to include you. So, if you've seen me, don't be surprised if your picture is in here somewhere. Of all the critters, people are absolutely the most interesting.

jim  Fright Night at Six Flags

I rode a stand up roller coaster.
I got it a movie of it, but this site is too slow for streaming video.
It was really great, though!
We played with some racoons.
The pictures will follow. Gosh I love COONS.
They sniffed us. One stood up and held out his little black hands.
The other one was niblling on my tennis shoe.
I ran off to get some pretzels for the little critters and they left. : (
In the end, we rode a Simulation Ride...ELVIRA's SCREAM PARK.
Or as Becky calls it, Elvira's Emotion Stimulator Ride.
It made the night.
Fourth Street Live was pretty dead
So here we are, at 10:30 pm, all burned out and hanging loose in the apartment.
But I look back now, and we had a pretty darned good day!
How bout y'all ?

jim  Racoons - Upclose and Personal
I suppose I shouldn't so get thrilled about these little guys.
After all, I'd just gotten off a roller coaster at Six Flags.
These racoons came up to us, sniffed us, and one of them tried to eat my Tennis Shoe. They made my night!
"Pardon me Roy, is that the cat who chewed your new shoes?" One chewed my Walmart shoes. They like Walmart!

jim  Ate pizza at Wicks Pizza!
Wicks Pizza, with Peter and Zoe. They've got really good pizza. I'm going to miss these two when Peter goes.

Bathroom art always amazes me!
Mae West is hangs out in the bathroom?
Bardstown road's mom/pop stores.
This is a record shop remains untainted by the chain store madness that has swept the country.
These clouds caught my eye.
They're all in line as if headed somewhere
We have come so far from home.
In Vegas,
the sky is either blue, grey or brownish, and it rarely rains.
The Louisville,
the sky puts on its own show for free, if you just look at it.

This video store is at least, unique.
They rent DVDs in envelopes
they still have VHS Tapes,
And they have Caligula!

I want one of these things!
All I need is $70,000 to blow.
Vipers are cool.

 jim  Kentucky Towers Days
Great people, great times! I'm in a place thats like no other.
These aren't really good pictures,
but they capture the spirit of these people. Peter is on the left and he's like a magnet. He looks like he's shooting photons out of his head...haha.
We hang out in front a lot.
We greet the people coming in and out.
They always have smiles.
In the middle is Susan.
Together, Peter and her have complimentary personalities.
All three have been here for quite some time. There's a chemistry between these people. They do skits, speeches, and they talk about life.
Preacher Scott stands here, arms all folded, but pictures decieve the perception. He's hilarious!
Peter is taking a job in Michigan, so these times mark the end of an era. The Kentucky Towers Trio is breaking up.

 jim  My second IPhone App
I showed this at work and mentioned my Iphone app.
Someone said I have too much time to be writing IPhone apps.
I think of programming as an art form.
It can be a expression of thought, like painting, poetry, music or mathematics.
Every little piece builds up to the whole.
Sure, I could spend my time writting viruses, planting flowers or watching TV, but I don't do any of those things.
I like to think I'm a very good computer programmer. I believe that this is what I was born to do.
What else am I going to do with my time?
This calculator looks great on the IPhone.
It still has a few of bugs in it, especially on devices that are weak in Javascript.

It was a really great movie.
I was surprised because I didn't expect much.
The special effects were pretty incredible.
The characters were likable.
And the script was humorous.
Not bad for a kiddy show!

 jim  Now I’m serious about this...Bar B Q
These guys here have a BBQ on wheels.
They have a caterers license, a venders permit, and a health permit.
I think thats about all that you need.
The BBQ grill runs around $1,000.
The trailer would be another $1,000 (maybe).
And I've gotta tell ya, my BBQ is much better.
We'd advertise to Bars. They call, and we're quick!
I can use my corporation to handle the expenses.
I think its worth a shot.
Only problem is, where can we smoke 20lbs of BBQ for 24 hours?

This girl was such a sweet heart
It seems that most of the girls that work downtown are working their way through college. This girl could be your shrink!
Anyone heard of Don Vito?
He played in Jackass: The Movie. Anyway, he was the main attraction on Fourth Street Live, Saturday night.

It was early, we were walking by.
I gave a barmaid a light.
Petrus wasn't open yet.
We talked, had fun, then Nick Nichols from the Reminisce Band gave us comp tickets to get in for the bar's openning in 2 hours.
We were the only people there.
These guys left the bar, and got on stage the moment they saw us walked in.
I can't tell you how good, and how welcome that made me feel.
Thats Nick Nichols on the right.
Reminisce is the best I've heard yet.
They play blues, country, pop and rock.
Call them 502-491-0630 or email them

This is a 2 man BBQ vender setup.
The bald fellow is working his way through college. He said it took 3 months to set up. You just need your venders license, and a health department permit.
This is the only cool smoking area
that I've seen in Louisville.
Its a great place to meet the band.
Stevie Ray's got the blues music.
Its tiny, and about a mile walk from 5th Street, but it was all worth it.

My Four Little Programs
By James R Cutlar
10/11/2007

This is probably the funnest assignment I've ever had!
Instead of complaining about things, I should be rejoicing.
Ok, so I'm not programming. And ok, it might be a little technical.
But its got flow charts, diagrams...COLORS..wow!
I know its crazy, but its cool.
I've always put documenation in the programs, where I can find it.
KISS.

jim  If we leave, this is what I’ll miss
Opportunities have been drifting my way for jobs in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Arizona.
They all sound great, but I will miss it here.
I'll miss the friends I have here,
the countryside, and all the excitement.
What I'm going to miss most of all though, is being a 7 minute walk away from 4th Street Live! It is, by far, the most exciting place in Louisville. Michael Bolton and Michael McDonald are coming in the next few weeks. Three Dog Night will be here too. And they'll be around the block from where we live.
These are the best times I've ever had.
I wondered why destiny sent me here, and now I think I finally realize the reason. It was to simply to enjoy life, and to not be such a nerd!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
BECK
Y
Don't you wish you looked this good.
Becky makes anyone look good that's near her.
She's a go anywhere, do anything kind of person.
Becky's secret:
A good attitude - If you've lost your smile, you've lost it all.
Most Quotable Saying:
He wants his cake, and sleep in it too.
What Becky wants most for her birthday:
ME !!! Ya just can't beat that.
Like I tell everyone that sees me with her,
"You gotta get yourself one of these !!!".
Being with her is the best thing that's ever happened to me.

jim  Calls are coming in for jobs
Being on the market for jobs means you've got to be ready for phone calls, anytime.
Its a big world out there with lots of time zones.
I came home last night, Becky was out front with Ms Beatty.
They wanted to know if I could help her by taking a couple of boxes to the Greyhound Bus Staion. I said sure, but I've got to hop the phone for an interview. It turned out it wasn't a couple of boxes, it was a truckload, and it had to be hauled from the six floor. We emptied out the truck, loaded up the boxes, and I had my phone interview in a parking lot. Ms Beatty gave Becky $50, which was really nice, but we didn't ask for anything.

 jim  Blonde Jokes
Distance Calculations
Two blondes who were living in Oklahoma were sitting on a bench talking,
and one blonde says to the other, "Which do you think is farther away... Florida or the moon?"
The other blonde turns and says "Helloooooooooo, Can you see Florida ?????"
Car Trouble
A blonde pushes her BMW into a gas station. She Tells the mechanic it died.
After he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly.
She says, "What's the story?"
He replies, "Just crap in the carburetor"
She asks, "How often do I have to do that?"
Speeding Ticket
A police officer stops a blonde for speeding and asks her very nicely if he could see her license.
She replied in a huff, "I wish you guys would get your act together.
Just yesterday you take away my license and then today you expect me to show it to you!"
River Walk
There's this blonde out for a walk.
She comes to a River and sees another blonde on the opposite bank.
She shouts "Yoo-hoo! How can I get to the other side?"
The second blonde looks up the river then down the river and shouts back, "You ARE on the other side."
At the Doctor's Office
A gorgeous young redhead goes into the doctor's office and said that her body hurt wherever she touched.
"Impossible!" says the doctor. "Show me."
The redhead took her finger, pushed on her left Shoulder and screamed,
then she pushed her elbow and screamed even more.
She pushed her knee and screamed.
Likewise she pushed her ankle and screamed. Everywhere she touched made her scream.
The doctor said, "You're not really a redhead, are you?
"Well, no" she said, "I'm actually a blonde."
"I thought so," the doctor said. "Your finger is broken."
Knitting
A highway patrolman pulled alongside a speeding car On the freeway.
Glancing at the car, he was astounded to see that the blonde behind the wheel was knitting!
Realizing that she was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the trooper cranked down his window,
turned on his bullhorn and yelled, "PULL OVER!"
"NO!" the blonde yelled back, "IT'S A SCARF!"
In a Vacuum
A blonde was playing Trivial Pursuit one night. It was her turn.
She rolled the dice and she landed on Science and Nature.
Her question was, "If you are in a vacuum and someone calls your name, can you hear it?"
She thought for a time and then asked, "Is it on or off?"
The Blonde Joke to End All Blonde Jokes!
A girl was visiting her blonde friend, who had Acquired two new dogs, and asked her what their names were.
The blonde responded by saying that one was named Rolex and one was named Timex.
Her friend said, "Whoever heard of someone naming dogs like that?"
"HELLLOOOOOOO......," answered the blond. "They're watch dogs!"

 jim  Nashville Accident

We were in the left hand lane,
travelling south on 7th or 8th street, near the stop light at Union.
A red truck was in front of us. A bus and a limo were stopped in the right lane. The red pickup truck looked like it was having a hard time getting around the bus.We saw a man hop out of the red truck, run in front of our truck and into the path the oncoming Toyota SUV.
He looked for oncoming traffic only after he was in the lane.
The SUV hit him pretty hard, and he was thrown about 40'.
I hopped out and called 911.
The impact was strong enough to knock everything out of man's pockets.
The ambulance and police showed up after about ten minutes.
I gave my statement, consolled the driver.
I gave my contact info to the police and driver.
The driver of the Toyota SUV was in terrible shape.
Her emotions might be shredded for weeks.
She called her boss and someone called her lawyer.
The fellow that got hit, had incredible reactions!
For a guy that wasn't paying attentioned, he did well.
As the Toyota hit him, he put his hands out,
then maintained a perfect skid on his back.
He may have gotten lucky with just a nasty bruise,
but he was conscious, and screaming in pain.
The people that also saw the accident:
- Two pedestrians from Memphis,
- Some lady from India who was screaming and crying. No one knows why she was so emotional. We thought maybe she was involved somehow.
- The convenience store manager said he saw it too. He thought the girl was speeding. I wanted to tell him to just Shut Up !!!
There was nothing the girl could have done.
