Louisville's Log
This is my favorite place to upload pictures too.
Louisville is a wonderful city.
Its not too big, and its not too small.
Its just about the right size to take roots in.
The people greet you with a southern hospitality and that southern drawl thats so adorable.

 jim  Average White Band
I was surprised that most of the people who had heard of the Average White Band, didn't know what they sang.
Several people, like me, thought they sang Play that Funky Music White Boy. They sang Cut the Cake...
The crowd was PACKED with wall-to-wall people. Would couldn't even see the band. And the walkways were filled too, so there was no way in or out. I guess Security lost control of the crowd.
We listened to some songs, split a burger at the Hard Rock Hotel, then took off for Rods place.
There, we were greeted with open arms. I love going over there. We can sit back and talk, and its the most personal experience I get here. These are my friends, which I have so few of and its so nice to be able to just ramble off conversation, and not have to filter what you say.

 jim  Tumbleweed Restaurant
We were so happy to have our transportation back, last night, we took off for an Irish Pub on Frankfort St. Along the way we came across the Tumbleweed Restaurant and curiousity steered us in.
The Tumbleweed sits off the Ohio River.
Its one of the few well lit places on the Riverfront Road. I had fajitas. Becky had a chicken enchilada. The bill was only $23, with drinks! Thats an incredible price! It was the best fajita I'd ever shovelled into the feed pipe and Becky enjoyed her enchilada too. (Don't know why that girl isn't fat). Great sauce!
Outside of the restaurant there was a gaggle of geese and these geese are hungy!
Never wear sandals around these fellows.
They eat your feet!
hmmm - Man eats duck. Duck eats man. haha. The restaurant doesn't serve duck.

jim  We are grounded for the weekend
The truck just barely runs. Sheesh. I think its the fuel pump.
I would replace it myself, BUT, I don't have any place to work on it..and if I did, my tools are in Vegas.
I could think of worse places to be though.
We hung out with Peter, Tim, and Susan for about an hour, then went to the Saddle Ridge.
Surprisingly, while this looks like a guys bar, there's usually as many, or more, girl customers than guys.
Women out number men here in Louisville...look it up.

There are a lot of great things about living in a high rise downtown.
One of them, is looking out a window and seeing clouds float by.

 Jim  Six Flags - revisited
This girl modelled for us.
The lines were very quick.
When its hot like it has been, the people leave when the water park closes.
The water park closes at 8 PM, but Six Flags stays open until 10 PM.
Waiting in the lines took 10 minutes...tops!

View of Louisville
From the top of the Ferris Wheel.
Becky hung out below, and I was alone. It was like riding on a couch!
Becky rode this ride with me!
Just kidding. Becky rode the Break Dance, Road Runner, Roller Skate Coaster and Merry Go Round.
TheThunder Run.
Its really rough too. I could feel every plank bounce underneath me. Its a back and neck killer. Really jerky.

 Jim  Catholic Church Festival
We went to St Rita's Catholic Church dinner/festival.
It was very different from any other church dinner I'd ever gone too.
We walked into the gym, where the food was being served, and the girl asked us for our tickets. So we walked back outside the door, to buy tickets. Then we walked back in, and go two plates, each with two pieces of chicken. We sat down, and our waitress (a cute 12 year old girl) asked us "What we'd y'all like to drink'. We asked, "What to you have? She said, "Tea and water". lol. But the food was really delicious. Coleslaw, cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes and corn were all waiting for us in bowls, where we sat. I tipped a waiter my ice cream ticket and the girl a dollar. I guess that was okay to do...hmmm.
The highway was all backed up coming in.
Police were motioning the traffic from the highway into the Church's parking lot.
However, the policeman at the lot told us it was full.
There were quite a few of us in the lot, trying desperately to turn around. It was packed.
I thought that was funny!
We ended up parking at a nearby shopping center.
One of the things I'll never understand about the south is Sweet Tea
Its tea with sugar in it. Thats it. Its nothing special. Almost everyplace I've seen here sells it separate from tea.
And if a place only serves tea, and not sweet tea, customers always gripe!
Whats that all about?

jim  I am starting to love the Weather Channel
Its kind of being forced on me at sofk.
They have a weather channel on TV above all of the cubicals.
I walk by some cubicals, and there on someone's screen is the weather channel.
The other day, someone wanted to show me where they lived. The used the satellite map from, the weather channel.
Okay, I get it! The weather channel is a hit here.
Its kind of digitized version of laying back, and watching the clouds float by (although it would be from outer space).
Whats funny is, if it said rain every day of the year, it would be 80% correct.

 jim  Louisville Parks
Six Flags over Louisville

Thi is a water park and Looney Toons Theme Park. The crowds were thin when we went. I'm assuming thats due to the bad publicity this park has gotten lately. In June 2007, a teenager lost both of her feet when a cable snapped on the internationally popular Superman ride. The odds favor getting a $1,000,000 check from Publishers Clearing house over getting hurt on this ride. But all that aside, its a fun park!
Waverly Sanatorium from Iroquois Park

This hospital is featured in a movie called "Death Tunnel". The hospital was built 1926, when turbuculois (the white plague) was prevelant. Over 60,000 people died here from the asphyxiating disease. Antibiotics eventually wiped out the plague that took more lives than World War I, and the hospital was closed.
Pauls Fresh Fruit and Vegetables

This isn't a park, but its a GREAT place to park. You can get the best veggies in town here on Taylorsville Road. These tomatoes have a flavor that California just can't reproduce. They are actually aromatic.

jim  The City Parks of Louisville
Eva Park - Dumpy
Louisville Soccer Park - Busy but nice
Hutchins Park - Okay
Cherokee Park - HUGE, long windy roads, a golf course is next to it. Its a jungle
Seneca Park - Very LONG, lots of soccer fields, very nice
The houses around Cherokee and Seneca were ancient and unique.
Iroquois Park - Beautiful - We saw 360 degree views of the entire Louisville area.
The houses around this area were new, and unique. They looked GREAT! I want one.

Waverly Park - Ok. Lots of trees. It ended with a home made lake...but I'd call it a mossy swamp.
Someone is building the lake with a backhoe. You can tell too. It has no water supply so the water is stagnant.
The ranches out here are spectacular though.
River Gardens Park - What park...it was less a baseball diamond with overgrown grass.
Campground Road - had no campgrounds to it, just factories.
Pleasure Ridge Park - nasty
Shawnee Park - Okay...we didn't really blend in.
There were only two parks where people parked in the grass, and blasted their music.
Both parks were 100% Hispanic.
Along the way, we stopped at a Fresh Produce Store
I ate almost an entire bucket of strawberries during the trip.
We watched a Railroad Bridge descend to let a train go over.
That was cool. I don't know what's more beautiful about this place, the area, or the sparkle in Becky's eyes!
Last of all we ate at Joes Crab Shack.
Half of it is on stilts overlooking the Ohio River. The food was the same, but at this altitude, with the air being more humid, the food tastes better. They're drinks are fantastic. Becky had a strawberry margarita, and I had a Pina Colada.
Great people. Great scenery. Great food.
I'm beat.
