Life

What is this life? Is there life after death or is this life after death?
Where did you came from? Was it Heaven, is this Heaven, or did we come from nowhere?
Is life just a dream?  Does anyone really know these answers?
Will our (great, great, ...) grandchildren be immortal?
Will future generations have the ability to revive the dead (spores can be revived after 250 million years) ?
This is where you can express your views.

jim  I think I finally understand existance
When we die, we die in the present portion of time. Our parts are recycled for the future. Our past remains fixed in the past.
The past and the future are as real as the present. We are not set up to understand them. Our state is set to the present.
We won't be in this state ever again, and we have no tools to imagine any other state.
But one can imagine that 100 years in the future, we will be dead in present time. We are currenty, the real, living, ghosts of the future.
I don't feel like a ghost, and I don't feel like a spirit either. And I don't feel dead. But, I am, one hundred years from now.
I believe all existance has already been predetermined. Life is like a movie where you don't know what is going to happen next.
There is only one path that could have brought us to the present, and there is only path possible into the future.
With that said, nothing is random. Our pain and joy, the decisions that we make, and the paths we take, all of these will have had to happen.
Our existance in the present is just a short ride.
I think it is like a rollar coaster, where we go in the same circle over and over again. It may be that we get to pick different seats each time around.

jim  Nature - We are all related
I was playing with our adopted chipmunk the other day.
I wondered if it played, so, I did the play stance that dogs like.
I got on all fours, kept my head up, crouched in a ready to launch posture, and put my arms straight out on the floor.
I know, when I do this with dogs, they go nuts. They wiggle their back legs, then run and jump around when I move.
To my surprise, the chipmunk wiggled his backs legs...just like a dog!!!
I wondered how it could be that a chipmunk, so far removed from a dog, could inherit the same behavior.
About then, I realized what I was doing. I was crouched like a cat does when he's stalking his pray.
At this point, I wondered if anyone else had put that together...that playing was a form of teaching self defense to young animals.
I googled it. Other's had come up with the same conclusion, with additional observations, EG - A young giraffe jumping all over the place, a horse doing the same.
I realized, while playing is regarded as fun, its intent is to teach us how to survive. Its another one of those silent voices we hear throughout our lives.
Even insects play.
I wondered if all animals sleep.
As it turns out, most do. Even some trees have been found to sleep. Of course, some might argue that all trees sleep though the winter.
Then again, since we can't find a trees control center, it would be hard to do an MRI on them to prove it.
Now this is a horrible realization about death (kind of)
After watching a slew of CSI shows, I wondered why, after we die, our bodies go into rigor. I wondered why we smell horrible.
And I realized something. Our bodies are preparing themselves to be devoured. The smell, while repugnant to people, is attractive to scavengers.
Our bodies are set to be recycled upon death.
While these thoughts may be considered negative, and even repulsive to many, they do point themselves to an amazing and beautiful truth.
All life on this planet, and probably the universe, is related. The fact almost every animal has two eyes, two kidneys and one liver is no accident.
We are simular in more ways than not. We are related.
And the fact that that little chipmunk plays like a dog, makes me think that defense stategies are passed down to all animals through silent voices.
Many of those silent voices could only come from the memory of animals just moments away from their death.
What I'm saying is, our memories live on past our lives.
Its possible our silent voices (instincts) were passed to us through the animals we have eaten.
Of course, many people would prefer not to think at all about these things and would simply say its God's will.
To those people I say, cool, if not thinking is what works for your truth, then fine. It really makes no difference what we think.
What really matters is, all the lives past and present on this planet are important, and that we go on sending messages long after our lives are over.
Some thought, way back in time, taught the chipmunks and dogs of the world to play.

jim  People do terrible things, like bombing buildings
I think because they want to make a difference in life.
Their solution works, but in the most horrible of ways.
It is very possible, that a rock could have changed the course of the Colorado River millions of years ago.
Its hard to imaging what Las Vegas would be like now if it did.
The Twin Towers attack did change the world. Its sad to say it, but our world today would be different if it hadn't happened.
And if you like your world as it is today, then that tragedy was necessary.
For the present to exist as it is, everything good or bad had to have happened exactly as it has happened.

jim  After learning more about Greek Philosophers
And learning more about Homer and Plato, I get the impression we are all living in someone elses dream. Our values aren't really ours. They are projections from someone else, who long ago had the power to influence generations to come. Those values include possessions, love, sex, and death. Why I'm saying this is, your dreams can out live you, and other people can live in them.

Jim  Mars is really, very close this month!
The Red Planet is about to be spectacular!
This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be
Certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.
The encounter will culminate on August 27th when
Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky.
It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide.
At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye .
Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30am. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.
Share this with your children and grandchildren.
NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN

 Jim  As an active lifeologist
I know I'm boring. But everyday, I ask what this life is all about.
I know the answer, of course.
Life, is about experience.
Life is a wonderland of treasures just waiting to be found.
You know when you've found a treasure. A treasures is worthless unless it is found.
Life is its own self documenting experience.
As such, we owe life for this experience.
I believe the cost (for this top attraction 4D ride) is to share and exploit whatever gifts life has endowed us with.
- If what you do best is make babies, make babies.
- If you're a great cook...then cook.
-If you're a great singer, sing!

If you do what you do best, everybody and everything that follows you will benefit from it.
If you don't do what you do best, your depriving, not just yourself, but everything from what you could have done.
The discoverer for the cure for cancer, may have been someone who gave up on becoming a doctor, just because it was difficult. So by that person not trying, they've killed billions to come.
I like what Aristotle said, "I stand on the shoulders of the giants that have come before me".
So, with that said, I'm not going to deal blackjack, bartend, or drive a truck.
I'm going to program computers. I know what I've done has already affected millions of people.
And its what I do best.

OVERHUNTING: American bison skull heap. There were as few as 750 bison in 1890 due to overhunting.
OVERHUNTING: American bison skull heap.
There were as few as 750 bison in 1890 due to overhunting.
Mankind is wiping out species at the rate of 30,000 a year.
Its so sad, that with our advances, we have destroyed so many creatures.
This planet should be down to half of its species in a few decades.
But, rats and cockroaches love us!
Mankind is known to have existed for 50,000 years.
Life on this planet is over 2,000,000,000 years old.
And we're ruining it all.

jim  Things I may never know
Does nature have any rules that are absolute?
Birth
Was I really nothing before I was born?
I know life comes from life. I know my components existed on the planet before I was assembled.
The odds of me being alive are highly improbable, yet, here I am.
If life on this planet was started by a god, then what started his life?
Time
Will time travel ever be possible?
Would you actually have to reverse the actions of everything in the entire universe to travel back into time.
From our current perspective in life, the past had to happen exactly the way it did. There is nothing random about it.
Did we ever actually have any choices?
Can we prove the future exists?
Is time being replayed right now? How would we know?
Are we stuck with all that we have done?
A million years from now, what will become of the 30 trillion life forms that make up my body?
Consciousness
Do rocks have consciousness? Does the universe? Does a self replicating molecule? Do we?
What is the purpose of life and why is it so persistant?
Exactly, why are people better than any other life form on this planet? I hope its not because we can kill everything else.
Humanity
We've only been here a short time. The hard part of creating our species has been accomplished by nature.
Will our species become extinct to another species?
Will mankind destroy itself?
Will mankind every conquer the effects of aging?
Will mankind ever increase its lifespan to a million years?
Will it be possible someday to transfer the information in our brains?

 jim  My Observations
Fear is based on pessimism.
Our consciousness begins and ends with life.
Everything has a cycle.
Nothing is ever wasted.
Nothing ever happens exactly the same way twice.
There can only be one outcome for the past.
There is only one future, and it is set. We just don't know what it will be yet.
Everything has a purpose. Everything is important.
Once an event happens, it has served its purpose. Once our life ends, we have served our purpose.
While it may be possible to be reborn, it is highly unlikely.
The present is when everything changes from a perfect chaos into a perfect order.
Time, space, matter and energy are boundless. They can only be measured relatively.
Light traveling toward light must be going twice the speed of light.
Inertia is the glue that holds everything together.
Friction is the force required for one mass to displace another.
Friction is the result of coherency.
A butterfly's wings has never caused a hurricane in Florida. That is insane.
Nothing ever happens in reverse.
Any new action depends on everything in the past happening exactly as it did.
Time travel only exists in fiction.
Math, if played with long enough, can be made to explain even the most ridiculous concept.
Math is set of rules for calculations done on paper.
The first thought of the universe had to be "I am". Even god had to be shocked.
The first thought for any normal person had to be "I am". The last thought should be "I am not".

jim  I am really grateful for this wonderful life.
I didn't earn this life, but still, I am here and I really do appreciate it.
It doesn't matter to me if I there is an afterlife or not.
If there is an afterlife, I'll know it the second after I die.
If there isn't an afterlife, then I'll go back to in the oblivion I came from.
I just want to say, thanks, to what ever gave this life to me.
I know I'm not smart enough to know God. I know no man is, though many say they do.
Ever day, when I learn, I discover all the things I don't know.
Every breath I take, is a debt I owe to the creator.
I'm no more important than a bird, dog, insect, plant or rock.
Everything is important. Everything leaves a trace.
But like I said, I didn't earn this life, and I would be ungrateful to expect more than I've already had.
I won't pray for anyone either. I will help them, and when I need help, I don't want prayer, I want help.
And if I hurt someone, I won't ask god for forgiveness. I will ask them, and I will try to repair the damage.
I won't ask Jesus to save me, and I won't ask any God to save me.
I'm grateful, not greedy.
I don't want a gold castle in the sky, or pastures of green when I die.
I don't care what anyone says about the after life.
If they go on belief without evidence, they deserve to be called sheep.
