The Life and Times of Jim
Hi, there. I'm Jim. Welcome to my phlog!
This site was written for Las Vegas, then LouisVille. Now, it seems to be about anywhere. In these phlogs, you'll see a lot of my personal notes and pictures. I like to post my observations here to remember life and celebrate it. I'm not religious. I don't pray for good fortune. I'm ecstatically grateful for the gift of life and I think our time should be remembered and not taken for granted. I'm not a writer. I think pictures tell stories so much better than words. I love just about everything in this life, and, I guess that would have to include you. So, if you've seen me, don't be surprised if your picture is in here somewhere. Of all the critters, people are absolutely the most interesting.

- Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal government, leaving 15 million to do the work.
- 2.8 million are in the armed forces, leaving 12.2 million to do the work.
- 10.8 million people who work for state and city governments, leaving 1.4 million to do the work.
- At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.

jim  Its 7:30 am and it is still dark outside.
The sun is just now coming up.
I love this time of the morning.
I usually get up at 6 am to the chirping on my IPhone's alarm.
It's a quiet time.
I usually have time to write a program, play with some pictures or check out the lastest hackers to my website.
Its a great time to learn new things.
I've written a VB graphics program thats wonderful.
It allows you to:
- Select files from windows folders using wild cards (like explorer should do).
- To drop to DOS in the folder your viewing (like explorer should do).
- To rename files using wild cards (like DOS's REN does).
- Put the modification date/time of files (pictures) in the beginning of the file name.
- Thumbnails graphics in mass.
- Creates an html file that enables you to view graphics, watch movies or listen to the sound recordings in the file.
I take a lot of pictures, and file names like IMG_0001.JPG just won't do.
In two clicks and a little typing, the files can be named 20071020-100000-CherokeePark.JPG
Thats pretty cool when you have just downloaded 100's of pictures!
I know programming, but I don't know how to market with a small budget, and thats such a shame.
This is my last week at work.
It would be so nice if they'd just tell me to take off with my last weeks pay.
So far, thats never happened to me.
There's not a lot to do where I work, so this may be a very boring week.
*** yawners ***
Well, guess I gotta go take a shower.
HAGD yall.

jim  Fright Night at Six Flags

I rode a stand up roller coaster.
I got it a movie of it, but this site is too slow for streaming video.
It was really great, though!
We played with some racoons.
The pictures will follow. Gosh I love COONS.
They sniffed us. One stood up and held out his little black hands.
The other one was niblling on my tennis shoe.
I ran off to get some pretzels for the little critters and they left. : (
In the end, we rode a Simulation Ride...ELVIRA's SCREAM PARK.
Or as Becky calls it, Elvira's Emotion Stimulator Ride.
It made the night.
Fourth Street Live was pretty dead
So here we are, at 10:30 pm, all burned out and hanging loose in the apartment.
But I look back now, and we had a pretty darned good day!
How bout y'all ?

jim  Racoons - Upclose and Personal
I suppose I shouldn't so get thrilled about these little guys.
After all, I'd just gotten off a roller coaster at Six Flags.
These racoons came up to us, sniffed us, and one of them tried to eat my Tennis Shoe. They made my night!
"Pardon me Roy, is that the cat who chewed your new shoes?" One chewed my Walmart shoes. They like Walmart!

jim  Ate pizza at Wicks Pizza!
Wicks Pizza, with Peter and Zoe. They've got really good pizza. I'm going to miss these two when Peter goes.

Bathroom art always amazes me!
Mae West is hangs out in the bathroom?
Bardstown road's mom/pop stores.
This is a record shop remains untainted by the chain store madness that has swept the country.
These clouds caught my eye.
They're all in line as if headed somewhere
We have come so far from home.
In Vegas,
the sky is either blue, grey or brownish, and it rarely rains.
The Louisville,
the sky puts on its own show for free, if you just look at it.

This video store is at least, unique.
They rent DVDs in envelopes
they still have VHS Tapes,
And they have Caligula!

I want one of these things!
All I need is $70,000 to blow.
Vipers are cool.

 jim  Kentucky Towers Days
Great people, great times! I'm in a place thats like no other.
These aren't really good pictures,
but they capture the spirit of these people. Peter is on the left and he's like a magnet. He looks like he's shooting photons out of his head...haha.
We hang out in front a lot.
We greet the people coming in and out.
They always have smiles.
In the middle is Susan.
Together, Peter and her have complimentary personalities.
All three have been here for quite some time. There's a chemistry between these people. They do skits, speeches, and they talk about life.
Preacher Scott stands here, arms all folded, but pictures decieve the perception. He's hilarious!
Peter is taking a job in Michigan, so these times mark the end of an era. The Kentucky Towers Trio is breaking up.

 jim  My second IPhone App
I showed this at work and mentioned my Iphone app.
Someone said I have too much time to be writing IPhone apps.
I think of programming as an art form.
It can be a expression of thought, like painting, poetry, music or mathematics.
Every little piece builds up to the whole.
Sure, I could spend my time writting viruses, planting flowers or watching TV, but I don't do any of those things.
I like to think I'm a very good computer programmer. I believe that this is what I was born to do.
What else am I going to do with my time?
This calculator looks great on the IPhone.
It still has a few of bugs in it, especially on devices that are weak in Javascript.

It was a really great movie.
I was surprised because I didn't expect much.
The special effects were pretty incredible.
The characters were likable.
And the script was humorous.
Not bad for a kiddy show!

 jim  Now I’m serious about this...Bar B Q
These guys here have a BBQ on wheels.
They have a caterers license, a venders permit, and a health permit.
I think thats about all that you need.
The BBQ grill runs around $1,000.
The trailer would be another $1,000 (maybe).
And I've gotta tell ya, my BBQ is much better.
We'd advertise to Bars. They call, and we're quick!
I can use my corporation to handle the expenses.
I think its worth a shot.
Only problem is, where can we smoke 20lbs of BBQ for 24 hours?

This girl was such a sweet heart
It seems that most of the girls that work downtown are working their way through college. This girl could be your shrink!
Anyone heard of Don Vito?
He played in Jackass: The Movie. Anyway, he was the main attraction on Fourth Street Live, Saturday night.

jim  Petros - Serenaded by the Reminisce
It was early, we were walking by.
I gave a barmaid a light.
Petrus wasn't open yet.
We talked, had fun, then Nick Nichols from the Reminisce Band gave us comp tickets to get in for the bar's openning in 2 hours.
We were the only people there.
These guys left the bar, and got on stage the moment they saw us walked in.
I can't tell you how good, and how welcome that made me feel.
Thats Nick Nichols on the right.
Reminisce is the best I've heard yet.
They play blues, country, pop and rock.
Call them 502-491-0630 or email them

 jim  Stevie Rays
This is a 2 man BBQ vender setup.
The bald fellow is working his way through college. He said it took 3 months to set up. You just need your venders license, and a health department permit.
This is the only cool smoking area
that I've seen in Louisville.
Its a great place to meet the band.
Stevie Ray's got the blues music.
Its tiny, and about a mile walk from 5th Street, but it was all worth it.

My Four Little Programs
By James R Cutlar
10/11/2007

This is probably the funnest assignment I've ever had!
Instead of complaining about things, I should be rejoicing.
Ok, so I'm not programming. And ok, it might be a little technical.
But its got flow charts, diagrams...COLORS..wow!
I know its crazy, but its cool.
I've always put documenation in the programs, where I can find it.
KISS.

jim  If we leave, this is what I’ll miss
Opportunities have been drifting my way for jobs in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Arizona.
They all sound great, but I will miss it here.
I'll miss the friends I have here,
the countryside, and all the excitement.
What I'm going to miss most of all though, is being a 7 minute walk away from 4th Street Live! It is, by far, the most exciting place in Louisville. Michael Bolton and Michael McDonald are coming in the next few weeks. Three Dog Night will be here too. And they'll be around the block from where we live.
These are the best times I've ever had.
I wondered why destiny sent me here, and now I think I finally realize the reason. It was to simply to enjoy life, and to not be such a nerd!
